About Us

Kemps Quay has been established for over seventy years and was one of the first marinas in the area. It is owned and operated by the Kemp family who have been involved in yachting and the marine industry for three generations.

At the Quay we recognise that yachting is a leisure industry and we have worked to create a relaxed and secure environment for you to fully enjoy your craft.

Kemps Quay is situated on the east bank of the River Itchen two miles north of the river mouth. The Itchen flows into Southampton Water, which is an extremely popular area for yachtsmen because it offers sheltered cruising in nearly all weather conditions. From Southampton Water you have direct access to the world famous Yachting mecca of The Solent.

These waters have attracted many sailing clubs to the area including the prestigious Royal Southampton Yacht Club. One of the advantages of berthing at Kemps is the ability to take a leisurely cruise eastwards to either Ryde or Portsmouth or westward to either Cowes, Yarmouth, Beaulieu or Lymington, returning to the marina the same day.

The River Itchen is increasing in popularity with boat owners due to the many new developments in the area such as Shamrock Quay, Ocean Village and Town Quay. The centre of Southampton has three excellent shopping precincts and is just five minutes away from the Quay. The picturesque New Forest and the ancient City of Winchester are both only 20 minutes away by car.
